Disposable vs Reusable Face Masks

Which one is right for you?

You might be asking yourself which face mask is right for you. Disposable or Reusable? With so much information out there it can be hard knowing which one to choose.

Single use vs Washing after use

The main difference between our reusable and disposable masks is the maintenance after each use. Disposable face masks are made for single use only compared to reusable face masks which need to be washed after every use.

If you prefer disposable face masks it is important to make sure you dispose of it correctly after each use.

1. Take off your face mask by holding the straps and fold it with the contaminated side (outer layer) facing inwards. 2.Then comes the most important part. Cut the straps! A bird will thank you later!

3. Lastly, throw away your face mask in a bin and wash your hands!

For the eco-conscious consumer, investing in a reusable face mask is an appealing option.

Hand wash

1. Soak your mask in warm water with any detergent you have at home.
2. Hand wash and rinse.
3. Let the mask air dry.

Machine Wash

1. Your mask can be washed in the washing machine with other clothes.
2. Use a lukewarm water setting and any detergent you have at home.
3. Let the face masks air dry.

Layers and Filtration

Both our disposable and reusable face masks are made of 3 layers.

Our disposable face mask's three layers feature a silky soft inner, a PM 2.5 filter layer and a water resistant non-woven polypropylene outer layer. TECMASK's disposable face masks have been tested by Nelson Labs with 99%+ Bacterial Filtration Efficiency (BFE) and Particle Filtration Efficiency (PFE).

Our reusable face masks are Australian made and are manufactured using eco-friendly materials. The outer layer is made of a recycled polyester material with moisture management qualities. Our filter layer is made of an antibacterial ‘Folma-Shield’ foam and the inner layer is made of a Carbon Hi-Tech Yarn that allows for breathability and heat regulation. TECMASK's reusable face masks have been tested by the Australian Government's National Measurement Institute (NMI) achieving 80%+ Bacterial Filtration Efficiency (BFE) tested according to stringent Australian standards. It is one of the first of its kind on the Australian Reusable Face Mask market!
