TECMASK SALON MASKS
Why do Beauticians need a TECMASK?
The beauty industry helps people to look and feel good. So if you work in beauty, why shouldn’t you look and feel your best while you work? At TECMASK, we know there are common challenges for beauty professionals when it comes to air quality, irritants and pollutants. When someone has a cold, we know to keep our distance - but what about the pollutants we can’t see?
In spray tan salons, a substance known as dihydroxyacetone (DHA), commonly found in spray tans, can be harmful to those who regularly breathe in the spray. Many health organisations, including The Victorian Government’s Better Health Channel, cite recent research which has shown DHA to be potentially harmful if inhaled. DHA can enter the lungs and be absorbed into the blood stream, where it could damage DNA and cause tumours, among other risks. Better Health advises ‘If you are getting a spray tan, make sure you are in a well ventilated area, not a confined space, and wear goggles and a protective air mask.’
In nail salons, respiratory issues are common. The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), which sets workplace safety standards, cites a list of chemicals that nail salon workers encounter daily. For the typical nail salon client, these chemicals may not pose a large threat, but for workers surrounded by them each day, there’s an elevated level of risk. Safe work NSW recommends nail salons purchase and use appropriate air masks, dust masks, pollution masks and gloves for their workers.
Here are what some of our happy TECMASK customers had to say about their TECMASK Salon Air Masks:
"When it comes to working with all different types of chemicals on a daily basis you need stronger protection, and this is what TECMASK provides. Whether it be from protecting yourself against DHA (dihydroxyacetone) when spray tanning or shielding your immune system, TECMASK can help."

"Once we started using TECMASK, we found they were much more comfortable and my staff could wear them all day. They are also very effective in protecting my staff from inhaling powders and fumes."
